HypeCurve is an AI-powered tool that generates minute-by-minute excitement curves for any movie or TV show. Think of how Google shows a restaurant's busy times — we do the same for movie excitement levels. You can see exactly when a film gets good, when to bail if it's not clicking, and what the peak moments are — all before you commit to watching.

HypeCurve uses a large language model trained on vast amounts of film knowledge — critic writing, audience responses, screenplay analysis, and narrative theory. It understands pacing, dramatic structure, and how audiences respond to different types of scenes. For major films, this knowledge is deep and reliable. For very obscure films, the AI still produces a curve based on available information.

Yes — from 1920s silent films to last week's release. Because HypeCurve uses AI rather than a fixed database, it can analyze virtually any title. The depth of analysis is strongest for films with significant documentation (major releases, critically discussed films). For very obscure titles, the curve is still generated but may be less precise.

Yes. The TV Shows tab gives you a full season-by-season breakdown, an episode heat map, the exact hook episode where fans say you're officially addicted, and an honest bail-out episode. Click any season tab to see the excitement level of every individual episode.

For well-documented, widely-reviewed films the curves are highly reliable — aligning with what most viewers and critics describe. The bail-out point and hook episode in particular are calibrated based on what audiences and film communities actually say about these moments. As with any AI system, results are best treated as an informed guide rather than absolute fact.

Occasionally, yes. The AI generates curves fresh each time and may emphasize different elements across runs. For major films the core shape is consistent. We're working on a cached system where popular film curves are locked in for consistency.

Both. The curves reflect aggregate viewer response patterns — they represent how most audiences typically experience a film's pacing, not one person's taste. The bail-out point in particular is calibrated to typical viewer abandonment patterns. That said, all film analysis has subjective elements. A horror lover and someone who hates horror will experience the same film very differently.

Not by default. The spoiler slider starts at zero — you see excitement levels and very general scene descriptions with no plot details revealed. Drag the slider right to reveal progressively more detail, from mood-only descriptions to full scene breakdowns. You control exactly how much you want to know.

The bail-out point is the honest moment of no return. It's the minute in a movie (or episode in a TV show) where, if you're not engaged, you're unlikely to become engaged. It's designed to save you time — giving you a clear verdict rather than making you sit through something that's not for you. Most bail-out points are 20-40% into the runtime.
